WORKSHOP - SATURDAY, 10:30 AM
“Learning Theories: Different Strokes for Different Folks?”
What do recent learning theories tell us about the way our students learn? How can we apply the latest research information on the brain, as well as the latest learning theories to make our teaching more effective and student centered? For years, music teachers have been offering private lessons attempting to meet the needs of the individual students to the best of our ability, but are there methods of instruction and pedagogical adjustments that could be of greater assistance in communicating our information and art to the students we teach? This 80 minute presentation will examine current understanding of the neuropsychology of learning, a multi-disciplinary overview of learning theories and the brain, and how latest research can be applied to private music instruction.
