Local Associations |

The Local
Associations provide an important networking
resource for the independent music teacher by
providing:
- Opportunities
for personal and professional growth including
the development of teaching, communication and
leadership skills.
- Opportunities
to network with other music professionals in the
community.
- Performance
and educational experiences for our students.
- Opportunities
to work within the community to promote
awareness of the value of music education for
all individuals.
To join a PMTA
Local Association you must first join MTNA and
PMTA. You can do so by visiting the MTNA
website. For more information on a local
association near you contact any of the Local
Association Presidents listed below. If there is
no Local Association near you email info@pamusicteachers.org
for more information on how to establish a group
in your community. We look forward to meeting
you!

Dec 9:
Covered Dish Christmas Social at the home of
Ruth Tierney, Hummelstown. If interested, please
call the chapter for more information.
Jan. 13:
Monthly Chapter Meeting, "Applying Fingering and
Pedaling Strategies", Dr. Dennis Sweigart. This
meeting will be held at Lebanon Valley College,
Annville, in Blair Music Center.
Feb. 17:
Monthly Chapter Meeting, "Piano Guild", Kathleen
Lamay, Sally Snyder, and Nancy Egoff. Come and
learn more about the Piano Guild.
March 20:
CAC Festival at Messiah College. This is an
exciting time for students to participate in an
adjudication, a group workshop, and a
performance class. Festival participants also
will enjoy a show featuring Dennis Kobray as
Scott Joplin.

Nov 1:
Unauditioned Recital held at Jacobs Music in
Philadelphia. This year was remarkable for both the
number of participants and the quality of the
performances.
Nov 18:
Teachers Forum held at Jacobs Music in
Philadelphia. Discussion among members of various
issues of piano pedagogy, new and old teaching
materials, and various practical problems of running
a business. This is also a good event for getting to
know new members.
Jan 24:
Auditions for the Andor Kiszely Auditioned Recital.
Students perform for a small panel of adjudicators
who select performers for the recital to be held in
February.
Feb 7:
Dr. Andor Kiszely Auditioned Recital, Rock Hall,
Temple. This is a show-case recital. Snow date
February 14.
Feb 28:
Members Recital. A recital featuring members of the
PhMTA and guest artists. This is a fundraiser, the
fourth time we have done this, and it is usually
well attended and much enjoyed.
