Dorothy Sutton Performance Festival

November 4, 2023, Indiana University of PA
Eligibility:
Any age may participate, including adults. Participating teachers must be a member of PMTA and a member of a PMTA Local Association. In addition to soloists, the festival is being reopened to duos and chamber ensembles. 

Deadline:

Repertoire Requirements:

Piano and voice: Two memorized pieces of a contrasting nature by different composers, preferably from two different eras in the more advanced levels.

Other instruments: the same, however memorization is not required but strongly  recommended.

PMTA Keystone Concerto Festival

November 4, 2023 at Indiana University of PA
Eligibility:

Any piano or instrumental student (unlimited age, college included). Participating teachers must be a member of PMTA and a member of a PMTA Local Association. Teachers must register students. 

Deadline:

Online registration will open at 8:00 AM on Monday, October 9, and close at 11:59 PM on Wednesday, October 20.

 Repertoire Requirements:

Any single movement of a standard concerto or youth concerto, memorized. Single movements of standard concertos, with cadenza, may be performed without cuts (though the accompanist is encouraged to omit some tutti material). If a lengthy single-movement concerto or other standard work for solo and orchestra is chosen (e.g. Liszt A Major, Prokofiev I, Rachmaninoff Rhapsody), an excerpt of no more than 15 minutes should be performed.

Pennsylvania MTNA Competitions

November 13, 2022 at Kutztown University
Eligibility:

Piano, string, woodwind, voice, and brass categories available (no brass and voice for junior category). MTNA active membership dues must be paid before submission of the registration. Non MTNA-PMTA member teachers welcome, though an additional fee will be charged.

Deadline:

Applications for all categories and levels must be submitted online at the MTNA website prior to Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time.

Junior Category: Age: 11–14 on January 1, 2023

PMTA Keystone Composition Competition 

April 1, 2024
Eligibility: 

Students must reside in Pennsylvania or study with a teacher with an established studio in Pennsylvania. Non MTNA-PMTA member teachers welcome, though an additional fee will be charged.

Elementary – Age 5-10 as of January 1

Junior – Age 11-14 as of January 1

Senior – Age 15-18 as of January 1

Young Artist – Age 19-25 as of January 1

Deadline: April 1, 2024

Entry requirements:

The following length requirements apply: 

Elementary & Junior – 16 measures minimum

Senior & Young Artist – 32 measures minimum

Total performance time will not exceed 15 minutes. For all classes, the composition may be in any recognized tonal or atonal style for any instrument or style.

PMTA Keystone Chamber Music Competition

March 4, 2023 at Penn State University 
Eligibility: 

Non MTNA-PMTA member coaches welcome, though an additional fee will be charged. 

Junior Division: All performers must be under the age of sixteen, but at least eleven years old, as of March 5, 2023.

Senior Division: The average age must be 16-18, with no performer older than 19 as of March 5, 2023, and no performer enrolled in college or university-level institutions.

Deadline: Postmark January 28, 2023

Repertoire:

The ensemble must consist of at least three performers and may have not more than six performers. Maximum performance time: 30 minutes. The program must contain compositions from at least two different periods of music (Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Impressionistic, Contemporary)
