Call for Clinicians – Due Feb 14, 2022

The Pennsylvania Music Teachers Associations state conference planning committee would like to send a friendly reminder of the Call for Clinicians for the 2022 State Conference. This year’s conference, with the theme Building an Enduring Musical Community, will be held June 24-26, 2022 at the beautiful Seven Springs Mountain Resort.

We have extended this deadline from our original announcement shared in the Fall Newsletter to February 14th, 2022.

In celebration of gathering in person, the committee is particularly interested in proposals focused on creating a community. Proposal topics may include (but are not limited to) online teaching strategies, remote rehearsing techniques, positive approaches to distance learning, embracing diversity with repertoire choices, outreach activities, collegiality during times of isolation, and bridging communities through music.

For consideration, please e-mail the following to co-conference chair, Holly Roadfeldt at roadfelh@lafayette.edu

  • A one-page proposal outlining the proposed session.
  • A 100-word or less description of the proposed session.
  • A one-page biography and 50-word biography of each of the proposed presenter(s).
  • A color photo of each proposed presenter.

All components listed above must be sent to Holly Roadfeldt no later than February 14th, 2022. We will not be able to consider proposals submitted after this date, but they may be considered for future events.

All will receive notification that their proposal was received by February 21st, 2022.  Notifications of acceptance will be sent during the week of March 15th, 2022

As you are preparing your proposal, we would like to share some information about our guest artists!

We are beyond thrilled to welcome two-time Grammy-winning saxophonist Timothy McAllister and his duo partner, pianist Liz Ames who will be giving a recital during the 2022 conference. We are also exceptionally delighted to present three-time American Music Teacher Article of the Year” recipient Dr. Jessica Johnson as our keynote speaker whose keynote address on “Strategies for Promoting Well-Being in Difficult Times” will be both inspiring and reassuring.

Additional highlights include a collaborative piano master class given by Liz Ames, a solo piano master class with Jessica Johnson and a clinic, also given by Jessica, focusing on teaching students with small hands.

Please consider submitting a proposal (by February 14th, 2022) or join us for inspiring presentations throughout the weekend (June 24th-June 26th, 2022). We would be delighted to have you join us at Seven Springs in June as a member of the PMTA community! In addition to our annual banquet, we will have several receptions and a surprise event in honor of celebrating friendships while sharing stories over the past few years.
